A blogger's dinner at Sushi Tei

I'm a frequent customer at Sushi Tei, so when I was invited to attend a blogger's Christmas (albeit belated post) dinner, I was so excited I had trouble sleeping the night before. Thanks OMY for the tie-up!

If you hadn't already known, Sushi Tei has a branch at Paragon, on the top floor near the gym section. It's super crowded and normally has a long queue, but it's one of the biggest Sushi Tei branches I know!

We kicked off the night with Sashimi Salad - raw fish and vegetables which was an affordable $9. Nom nom nom.

When you get the salad, you'll be presented with a choice of sauce. My favourite is Sushi Tei's special sauce. It's a little tangy but slightly sweet.

When you're at Sushi Tei, you'd expect the sashimi to be their specialty, and it is! Here's the Sashimi Moriwase - bluefin tuna, yellowtail and salmon.

If only we were presented with unlimited servings... The salmon, of course, was superb as usual, but it was my first time trying yellowtail at Sushi Tei and it was surprisingly good! All ingredients are fresh and sliced carefully for sashimi goodness.

This small dish, is pricier, at $30.

I am in loooove with mentai mayo. Unfortunately, it's really unhealthy (about 200 calories), but it's good to indulge once in a while, isn't it? This dish is a great appetizer and watch how your table of companions turn silent as they feel the oozing greatness exploding in their mouths. Here's their Kani Mentai Mayo Roll - crab meat sushi with mentai mayo worth $8.

Next up, the Hanasaki Ika Tempura - Squid with roe tempura. This would make awesome pub grub. Crispy, deep fried, goodness. $6

Our next dish was Asari Clams in butter and soya sauce. This was tasty and delicious! Nuff said. I didn't get any sandy bits so I was contented.

Instead of your usual crispy skin dumplings, Sushi Tei's Homemade Meat Gyoza (pork and chicken) was soft and juicy. It felt more chinese than Japanese though. Maybe it was tailored to suit chinese tastes? Haha.

Kaisen Chankonabe - hot pot with seafood and vegetables. Can't remember if we picked Shoyu or Miso base but it was so-so. There's a small portion of udon noodles! I prefer the sukiyaki, (also in Sushi Tei's menu) more though.

Golden Roll - mango king prawn sushi roll. You wouldn't think mango and prawns would go together but they do. It's a strange complimenting taste that should definitely be given a chance before judged! Haha I enjoyed this, and the roe was a great addition to enhance flavour!

Finally, the assortment of desserts. Mango sorbet ice cream balls, and I didn't try the other flavours so I don't know what they were. HOWEVER, this waffle + vanilla ice cream bread below is really good!!

Reminds me of my primary school days. The waffle isn't very crunchy but is a great end to the meal. LEFT ME HAPPY :D

Overall, I found the portions were pretty small for a table of 15, but if you've got a cosy group of 4, this should be great to keep you guys stuffed for the rest of the day/night!

Thanks again Sushi Tei and OMY!

The Body Shop's Winter Trends 2012!

Hey everyone!

I know I haven't been updating, or active on twitter much, but my instagram is still alive k. Have been spending more time with the people around me and my family! Also have been reflecting about some mid life crisis issues hahahah. Looks like 2012 is almost over, we're still in one piece, if we live through the 22nd remember to be grateful k!

Christmas is my FAVOURITE time of year, so you gotta match your feelings with your look so here's where you pick up The Body Shop's winter trend series!!

Was invited by The Body Shop some time ago for their Christmas blogger's special!

The Smoky Moonstone for an easily achievable smokey effect! Bring this along with you and you'll be able to transition from a day look to a night look :)

We were allowed to play with the make up and use The Body Shop products to create our winter look!

Really love the gold and copper brown eyeliner!! It doesn't make you look sleepy at all but makes your eyes sparkle and look alert! Here's some of the products I used on myself.

Can't forget a few puffs of shimmer. Very cute design!

Absolutely LOVE this!! Just a few swabs will contour your face, giving the illusion of a smaller frame immediately! This is being snagged at stores as we speak! Haha.

The angled kabuki brush is perfect to sculp your cheekbones with!

Larry's work of art

Here's one of Larry's tricks to apply mascara on your eyelashes! The mascaras that I use don't clump my lashes much, so I'm fine. Another trick it to comb through your eyelashes after applying your mascara with an eyebrow brush!

Food wasn't very fantastic imo, but would you go to a bookshop just to have food??

Travel sized hand creams!! I carry one with me to work :)

Learning make up tips from Larry, who doesn't like highlighters under your eyes to bring out your cheekbones haha.
With the newlywed bridge!! :D I hadn't used the face contouring powder yet though!

Still not yet!

Pretty Evon. Her hair colour is always so nice!

Next, we headed downstairs to The Body Shop's store in Ion! Imagine this, two DSLR-wielding photographers, followed by a throng of about 10 females, looking pretty in The Body Shop's make up and smelling fragrant! Yes, everyone in The Body Shop looked at us and some passers-by stopped to look out for celebrities! Some asked what was going on, and poked their heads into the colourfully themed shop.

Was a pretty funny moment hahah. Check out the new items in the store!!

Dazzling rocks with Kabuki brush again!! Can't get enough of this. Please get your hands on this before it's all sold out!

Sigh, don't you just love christmas. (Am also playing christmas jazz songs on my computer now hahah)

It's so hard to find a company that truly believes in giving back to the community. I remember reading The Body Shop case studies in university. They've come a long way!

So, tis the season to be jolly. I hope you've gotten your presents for your loved ones already! Otherwise... why not consider
  The Body Shop!
Your solution. Haha! Plus, there's something for everyone to use!

Isn't this adorable? My brain told me that it was in a shape of a gingerbread man but it's actually in the shape of a snowman :( Yvette laughed at me.

If you haven't been convinced, here's my last shot. FREE GIFT WRAPPING!! So you don't have to do it yourself :P

My face after the contouring! Not sure if you can see it, but I look much more radiant here!!

Before I go, please spare a few seconds to vote for me in The Body Shop's challenge!!

You'll also stand a chance to win prizes for yourself!!

Thanks so much guys and have an amazing christmas with your loved ones! :)

Vintage Lomo shots from my La Sadina, compliments from Hotels.com

Here are the pictures from my new Lomo camera that I took the other day at the Hotels.com 's new iPad app launch event! Of course, not all pictures turned out nice and I filtered out the ones that were too freaky or dark. Enjoy! :)

The best feature about the La Sadina is that you can layer images onto your original shot! OF course, you don't know how it'll turn out until it develops... While looking at the pictures, try to guess what I used as a layer reference (if any) before you scroll down to read the caption!

To achieve the best overlay effect, take the darker picture first, then a lighter texture effect. Really loving how some of my pictures turned out!

All the shots in this post were taken WITHOUT FLASH and UNEDITED. I have bought the batteries for my flash so the next time I bring my cam out, I'll be able to do indoor shots!

The very first shot, the overlay is a mural you can see below! Liking the flame burn due to the exposure to light. Haven't seen one of those in ages.

Absolutely LOVE how this turned out!! The floral print was from tiles of a shophouse I found. I'm glad the government preserved these heritage shophouses because it reminds us of our history and they're so vintage!

Normal shot with Mel. Trying out the portrait closeup, which is a ladybug icon.
(looks like a fly tho)

Mentioned in a previous blogpost that Mel and I were secondary school classmates! Had fun reminiscing some old times with her on that day :)
Look where we are now, in the working world yet having fun over the weekends!

Back alley, back to the good ol' days.

Stephanie saw two candles so I thought I'd play with another overlay effect.

If you look closely, this photo was supposed to have an overlay!!! Guess my first photo was too bright (the background shot) so you can't see it. I actually took a photo of a board with numbers on it. Oh well, we learn!

This is the mural I was talking about earlier! Used this for one of my textures.

Mel and I again, this time, pouting!

The diamond in the middle is actually a bar's logo. Like the faded effect on this one.

Again, another tile I saw on the floor. Like the rustic feel to this shot! Feel's like we're in the 50s again.

A plant with some flowers hahaha.

Normal shot of the road.

Can't remember but I think this was a tile too. The item on the right is a letterbox, if you're too young to not have seen these before :P

If you were this tiny, your perception of the world would be different.

Too dark!! Urgh!!

Am really pleased with myself!! The Ying yang is also a shop's logo but I layered it with a checkered background. It could've screwed up but the blend is perfect. :) Like they say, just shoot, don't think!

With the girls, Becks, Shenny, me and Mel and our new cams!

After we finished our roll of film, the lomography shop collected them and told us that they will be sent to Taiwan for processing and we received the scans 2 weeks later! Which is why I was able to obtain the soft copies and upload them here easily.

Thanks once again hotels.com for my new cam the La Sadina, and be sure to check out their new rewards program where you get ONE NIGHT FREE for every 10 nightstays you book with them! (Terms and conditions apply.)

Check out their super cool iPad app because the interface is soo user-friendly and convenient. After looking at the shots from my lomo I feel inspired to start shooting again! Let me know which is your favourite shot? All looks obtained are purely tyco and coincidental hahah.
